A subdomain is a website address, that's under a main, or a root domain. An illustration is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. apart from employing the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be fully independent and even hosted by a different service provider. Employing a subdomain can be quite handy if you want to have different sites which are connected in some way. For instance, you can have an online store under the main domain as well as a forum under a subdomain so as to supply means for your customers to ask questions and share opinions regarding your products. The main advantage of employing a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the websites are going to be separated, so that you can update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Hosting

Our hosting plans will permit you to set up many subdomains for every domain hosted in your account without any hassle. Assuming that the main domain is added, it requires two clicks to set up a subdomain and choose what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using quick access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that specific subdomain. We haven't set a restriction for the amount of subdomains that you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated servers don't have a set limit for the number of subdomains you can create. Adding a new subdomain within the account takes only a few clicks within the Hepsia hosting CP and during the process you can pick the folder the subdomain is going to access if it will be different from the default one, create custom-made error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions if you need them or create a dedicated IP address rather than the shared server one if you have added this upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. Once the subdomain is set up, you will be able to access logs and visitor statistics or you can quickly jump to the website files for it in the File Manager section through quick access buttons. All subdomains that you've got in the account are going to be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you're going to be able to find and manage every single one of them with ease.
